Bee Dee poem illustration In 1924, Artist and teacher Louise Sheppa Lovett took pen and brush in hand and created a picture book for her little girl, Mary Louise. The original hand-made book is now a family treasure, a sweet and timeless statement of a mother's love.

Born in 1894, Lovett was a graduate of UC Berkeley and taught in various small communities in California. She was a noted 20th century artist, and is listed in several publications as such. She lived for many years in Santa Cruz, California until her death in 1974.

Ellen Chong is the granddaughter of Louise Lovett, and daughter of Mary Louise. Like her grandmother, Ellen is an educator and artist living in California. She has carefully revised and restored her grandmother's original book and now offers it through Tish and Company LLC.

Little Mary Louise is now in her eighties and living in California. She is delighted that her story is available to you!
